We Were Meant To Live

This was a longstanding project of mine during 2021. I started with a distant galaxy and thought hard about what I wanted to get out onto this canvas. 2021 was a year of epic fears that took a stronghold on many people I knew around me as well as the general population. I kept thinking to myself "how did we just let this happen?"

As I worked through this piece, I wanted to scream out that we are meant to live. We are meant to make mistakes, have a little fun and just live our lives without the interference of any other opinions. Our life is ours to own, our choices are only ours to make and thus, the outcome of our choices is also ours to own. We have a personal responsibility to do better for ourselves and in turn it will do better for those around us. If everyone just took some time to live their own life, without interfering in others' we would be a happier, more productive place. This was my thought when I started painting this. The inspiration and effect it had on me doing this piece still rolls through me today--I just want to keep doing more, doing better and doing what makes me a stronger person.
